CIS excursion
Recently i visited canadian international school which was the original campus of TKGS.From that expericen i have learnt a few things like TKGS use to have a riffle range and even shared the school field with HGS/HBS.Even at the old location, TKSS previously known as TKTech was our neighbours just like now.We became neighbours again after we moved back to Dunmman lane. This also thought me to be thankful as our new campus is much bigger and more comfortable as the original campus had a tiny hall which could barely fit comfortably 6 classes.I also heard from the alumni members that there use to be lots of flooding in school as back in the day the plumbing was not as good as now, hence i am very thankful that our school has good drainage system now.I also found out that the school has actually changed there CCAs to suite the wants of the student like for example they changed their outdoor band to symphonic band as the girls were not very fond of the sun especially when having to carry heavy instruments.I would like to also thank the alumni members for taking time out of their schedule to come and give us a tour of the original campus of TKGS an for giving us personal details.

CIA Trip
What I found most interesting about TKGS history is how many different changes the school has now.The home Econ’s room is now the drama room , I was shocked! How could so many students fit in such a small room. The old principals office has now become the nurses clinic. The guide told us back in the days, they would be needed to have two different CCAs. One would have to be a sport and the other would be a uniform group or a society.
I really learned a lot from this experience and I hope that future secondary ones would learn just as much or more than ya.

learning journey to cis
What I found most memorable was the story of how one of our guides would sit under a tree with her friends before school started so they could talk and study together. She told us that once she had lost her notes on the day of a test. So, she called her friend and they met under the tree to study for the test together before school.Another thing I found memorable was the school hall. Our guide told us the floor and the windows were also in the original TKGS campus. Although it wasn’t huge, the hall was a really beautiful heritage site. I really enjoyed the journey to CIS to learn more about TKGS’s past!

Cis reflection
On the 23rd of January, the Sec ones went to visit our previous campsite, now known as Canadian
international school. There, there we’re many factors similar to the current tkgs. Such as there were MEP
classes and the canteen looked exactly the same but in a smaller way. However, there were many things that
were different too such that a garden in Canadian international school used to be the entrance into the
school. A playground now, used to be the place where the flag will be raised.

So many things in the past tkgs campsite has changed, but the memories left there from alluminies will never change

Canadian International School Reflection.
On the 23th of January 2019, my class, 1E3 and I went to the Canadian International School to learn about TKGS's past. What I found most interesting about the trip was that students of the past did not need to take Design and Technology classes. I know this for a fact as my tour guide is a alumni of the school. She also told me that she enjoyed her Science lab classes as she found it interesting and fun to do experiments in the lab, which is something relatable with myself. I hope that the future students will also have the opportunity to go to CIS as well.

Our Journey @ CIS.
The tour started at the old block where our tour guide showed us where their classrooms used to be. I found it interesting when she mentioned that there used to be 2 sessions, morning and afternoon and there would also be a foundation programme after O'levels before you join the university. Then we moved on to where the dentist used to be(in the picture above). We also moved on to an open plaza where we took our group photo(above). Another thing that I found surprising was when our tour guide showed us the former Haig girls and boys, and Haig Girls was my primary school! This tour killed 2 birds with one stone as I learned about my primary and secondary school's heritage. Overall I had a very fun and fruitful experience.

Learning Journey to CIS
On the learning journey to CIS, we were taken on a tour by a former TKGian. She told us alot about the history about that campus. But i found the nightclasses the most interesting as I have never heard of nightclasses. Apparently, nightclasses are remedial classes held later in the day. She also said thatsome of the level 1 classrooms were used for their Home Economics which is now known as Design&Technology and Food Consumer Education. She told us about how they were taught how to sew, cook and clean the house. She also said that it was very useful as she could help her mother with the house work. To summarise everything, the learning journey to CIS was able to teach u valueable lessons and learn about the rich history ofthe old TKGS campus.

Learning Journey to CIS
During the learning journey to Canadian International School, I have learnt a few things about the school from our guide, who was a TKGS alumni. I learnt that the hall was not changed since the building was built. They used to have two sessions: Morning and afternoon. They field used to be extended and they would have their flag rising and flag lowering at the open field. For days that the students have CCA, they will usually go to school on Saturday mornings for their CCA. Apart from that, I have also learnt that CIS only took over twelve years ago and they only teach children up to primary 5.

The trip to TKGS old campus (CIS)
Hello everyone! I am Tifanney.Firstly, it was a pleasure going to CIS and meeting places with great value in the TKGS Alumni’s hearts. Listening to their stories felt like travelling back in time and experiencing them. The Alumni, used to have two sessions per day. Morning and Evening. They had 9 classes and 40 students in each of them. For the morning assembly, they go to the field for flag raising and the evening batch for Flag-down.My friends and I were giggling when the Alumni uncovered her adventures with her friends at the Pigeon Hole. She said that they would meet up there and chat about all kinds of stuff till recess ended, when they will scamper back to class.TK Tec is now known as Tanjong Katong Secondary School. They were also known as the toad and TKGS as a grasshopper (because of the uniform).Their Sports Day and PE would be held in the field which is situated next to the Basketball Court and is now partially occupied by the carpark. Even the music room and the tiles for the floor remain intact. This was a truly remarkable experience which will definitely be etched in my mind forever.

CIS Learning Journey
I really enjoyed myself during the learning journey to the original Tanjong Katong Girls School, which is now currently occupied by the Canadian International School.I especially liked the field as our guide shared with us that the field used to be share among three schools . The three schools are TKGS ,Haig Girls' & Haig Boys'(which does not exist anymore).Last time all CCA's had their own CCA room.Plus , the old principal's office has now been changed into a nurses' room. Our guide also shared with us that because last time the drainage system was not very good , if it rained very heavily, the rain water would reach about the first step and the students socks & shoes would get wet.As they did not have fake grass in their field last time , the soil in the field would become mud and the rain water will turn into muddy water.

CIS Learning Journey Reflection
What I found the most interesting about the information shared by my guide was how they had fun in the past by collecting lots of saga seeds in containers. They remembered those activities very clearly as they truly cherished them.

I also learned that in the past when it rained the fields would get flooded and muddy, but the students still had to continue their daily activities as per normal which made their shoes and socks dirty extremely regularly which is also very unhygienic. I also found out that sometimes the water even come into the school compound and there would be water even outside their class which is very dangerous. These were the experiences they had which is very different from the present. Negative or positive these memories should be cherished and fortunately the alumni did. This learning journey made me realise how fortunate I am to be studying in a conducive environment. I will always remember this learning journey as a life lesson and heritage site

The old TKGS campus reflection
The Old Tanjong Katong Girls School was a very green area with a big field which was used by three schools. The Haig Girls Primary, Haig Boys which does not exist anymore and Tanjong Katong Girls School. So usually after school or during P.E. lessons the field will be very crowded.
Also they used to have two sessions, the secondary 1 and 4 will come to school in the morning while the secondary 2 and 3 will come in the afternoon. All the levels will have their co-curricular activities on Saturday. But all the sessions have changed to one session which is in the morning.

CIS Learning Journey 2019
On 23 January 2019, my class and I went to visit CIS which was previously the first ever TKGS campus. It was very interesting to hear these stories from our guides about their time during TKGS back then. It's fascinating how different buildings changed its function, for example, our guide told us that a toilet there used to be an armoury that contained weapons or a French class used to be a dental clinic. I like how they also preserve the buildings and kept it, so that the history and culture of TKGS behind it will not be forgotten. The most memorable thing is that the hall present there is the same hall that was there back when it belonged to TKGS. It touched me to see how we can do something to preserve our own history and our culture and I am proud of it.

TKGS’s INTERESTING HISTORY
Today,we were splitted into groups before heading to the Canadian International School, which was where the former Tanjong Katong girls school was built. My guide,Ms Carol, who was once an alumni of TKGS,led us around the school. She shared a variety of interesting stories of what happened back when she was at school. She explained to us how she was taught how to handle a real baby and bathe them.I find it quite surprising as in the present TKGS,we do not have these activities. Then, she led us towards the band room, which was smaller than the present one.She also told us that when it starts raining, the drains will overflow and the classes would get wet.Furthermore, she mentioned that the students would have to change in class into pe attire when they have pe on that day!Fortunately, someone is in charge of guarding the door while the other students are changing.I was really glad that I got a chance to visit the school as I learnt how fast tkgs developed and it’s interesting history!

CIS trip
The old Tanjong Katong Girls School had a big green field , that was shared with the other schools nearby. Although the School has been replaced with California International School(CIS), many parts of the old school are still there. The school has been declared a world heritage site. When we went on the tour , our tour guides( former tkgians ) told us about the rich history of the former school. I was surprised when I saw the school, for despite numerous changes, such as the addition of an air conditioner, the school still had the rustic feel of the old Tanjong Katong Girls School.I hope that the next set of tkgians will also be able to visit this majtic school.
